When the manufacturers produce capacitor voltage transformers (CVT), the function of harmonic measurement is not considered. Therefore, this paper explores methods to solve the problems of harmonic measurement from the perspective of manufacturers.
Abstract: A method for harmonic measurements in EHV systems is proposed that is based on the measurement of currents in capacitor voltage transformers (CVT) and values of capacitor elements of CVTs. This is the basis of a new technique, which uses current sensors installed within CVTs.
The harmonic voltage on the primary side can then be accurately measured according to outputs of the current transformers and the impedance-frequency characteristics of the circuit branches into which the current transformers are inserted. However, these methods are not applicable to CVTs that are already in operation.
For equipment of greater than 16 A per phase, the current limits are determined by each harmonic up to the 13th order, the total harmonic current (THC) calculated from harmonic currents up to the 40th order, and the partial weighted harmonic current (PWHC) up to the 40th order.
